Our story

1985

Our history began with VMI Indústria e comércio Ltda., on October 1st, 1985, aiming at the short term supply to other manufacturers of parts and pieces of X-ray equipment and to make available in the medium and long term products that use ionizing radiation directly to the consumer with the VMI brand.

1986

In November of 1986, the number of employees increased from 07 to 21, and the project sector employed 05 technicians demonstrating the mission of the company that would later change the technological concept of the national industry. The total area of the industrial plant is 1,300 m2.

1987

In April of 1987, an important step was taken: VMI-Indústria e Comércio Ltda launches the Pulsar 400, Pulsar 500 SR and Pendulum equipment during the Jornada Paulista de Radiologia. The number of employees is 41.

In 1988 in compliance with a short-term growth strategy, the company won a large tender in the state of São Paulo for a total of 48 x-ray equipment, giving a new boost to production and the number of employees reaches 76.

In 1989, the project area is expanded and the Espectro 150 is developed for use in airports in baggage inspection, through an agreement with INFRAERO. The line of transportable X-rays Aquilla 120/300/500 model and Pulsar 800 are also launched. The industrial area is expanded by another 900 m2.

1990

From 1990 already owning its own technology, it launched new products: Remote controlled table, high-resolution three-phase Mammography Equipment, and radiotherapy simulator, pioneers when it comes to equipment produced in the country.

1991 - 1994

The next years 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994 were dedicated to consolidating the brand by restructuring the network of representatives and in November 1994 the 1st National Conference of VMI Representatives is held.

1995

In 1995 the projects technological base changed and the era of high-frequency generators and micro processed controls began.

The position taken is strategic and aiming at the future. A worldwide trend was to come involving this technology and security standards aimed at extremely low dosage levels, and they are being adopted in European countries, the United States, Canada, and Japan.

At the same time, we took part and influenced decisions involving IEC 601 security standards, Health Surveillance Registration, CB26, CB20, and political decisions in ABIMO and Mercosur.

1999

In, 1999 ECRI Journal (Healthcare Product Comparison System) invites us to join the group of cutting-edge technology companies to be evaluated by consumers around the world.

We are factory certified by IEC 601 standards and on January 27th, 1999 we received the recommendation for Quality Management System certification based on NBR ISO 9001/94. At the same time, the development of the Plus line, programmed organ technique, automatic exposure has begun.

In 2000 the development of a modern project for the production of equipment aimed at cardiovascular diagnosis in Brazil took place.

On July 5th, 2002 we inaugurated the new industrial headquarters in Lagoa Santa. In an area of 22000 m², with 7,000 m² of built area, complying with the most up-to-date construction and environmental conservation techniques, in accordance with ISO 14000 standards. This complex is able to meet the needs of projection, development, and manufacturing of equipment, in addition to providing a safe environment and focused on the needs of its personnel, comprising office, factory, laboratories, training center for 70 people, study hall, and leisure area, multi-sports court, orchard and vegetable garden.

This manufacturing unit was designed not only for productivity, but also for quality, comfort and security and we are sure that each level reached in our journey will be aligned with the same efficiency that has driven us so far.

Still in 2002 we made a partnership with a foreign company to create a new industry for the manufacture of X-rays for volume inspection (Baggage scanner), where we began to operate in the security market.

In 2016 we began to act with greater intensity in the development and manufacture of solutions for diagnostic imaging specialties, with products and technologies previously only produced by multinational companies.

In 2020, in a partnership with BDMG, we have developed and delivered in record time, a reliable, safe, robust lung ventilator with the most affordable price on the market for healthcare institutions to fight against the covid-19 pandemic.
